Subject : Clarification of Operation Result for the 1st Quarter of the Year 2004

The Union Mosaic Industry Public Company Limited has submitted the Company's Financial
Statement for the 1st quarter of the year 2004 as ended March 31st ,2004, reviewed by certified
auditor including an explanation on differences of operation result. The Company reported the net
profit of 53.3 million Baht, an increase of 65.8 million Baht from net loss of the previous year of 12.5
million Baht, due mainly to the following matters:
1. The revenues from sales has been increased by 29.6 million Baht or 6 percent of
revenues from the same period of the previous year of 489.2 million Baht an increase to
518.9 million Baht. This was a result from the increase of ceramics tile's usage in
domestics sales.
2. The interest expense has been decreased by 44.7 million Baht or 83 percent, because
the rate of interest paid the same period of the previous year was a penalty rate and the
amount of debt for this year has also been decreased.
3. The gross profit margin reported at 24 percent of sales revenues an increase from the
previous year of 20 percent. The result was by the effectively decreasing cost of good
sold continuously from the development of production efficiency using TQM : Total
Quality Control.
